The mission of the American Counseling Association is to enhance the quality

American College Counseling
Association
ACCA is an Association for those persons in higher education to include
colleges, universities, community and technical college settings, whose
professional identity is counseling and whose purpose is fostering students'
development. ACCA strives to support and enhance the practice of college
counseling, to promote ethical and responsible professional practice, to
promote communication and exchange among college counselors across service
areas and institutional settings, to encourage cooperation with other
organizations related to higher education and college student development,
and to provide leadership and advocacy for the profession of counseling in
higher education.
American School Counselor
Association The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) supports school counselors'
efforts to help students focus on academic, personal/social and career
development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead
fulfilling lives as responsible members of society. ASCA provides
professional development, publications and other resources, research and
advocacy to more than 18,000 professional school counselors around the
globe.
Aviation Education Volunteer
Counselors Aviation Education Counselors are trained FAA volunteers who have an
interest in sharing their expertise and knowledge of aviation with students,
teachers, and the general public. Requests for presenters and speakers may
be obtained by written request through the Aviation Education Programs
office in your region. Accommodation of requests will depend on availability
of volunteer counselor. Contact the Aviation Education Program Manager in your
region.
College for Texans
Education. Go Get It. That’s the message of the new “College for Texans”
statewide campaign launched in the fall of 2002 by the Texas Higher
Education Coordinating Board in an aggressive new effort to send more Texans
to college. The campaign aims, by 2015, to enroll another 300,000
academically prepared students – beyond the 200,000 enrollment growth
projected based on current trends – in Texas universities, community
colleges, and technical colleges.
College Tech Prep of Texas
Tech-Prep is College Prep for Technical Careers! Tech-Prep is a way to start
a college technical major in high school. In a Tech-Prep program, you begin
your course of study in high school and continue in a community or technical
college. The result is a certificate or associate degree in a career field.
Tech-Prep programs combine the academic courses needed for success in
college AND technical courses that begin to prepare you for a career.
Students in Tech-Prep programs can earn college credit through:
Content-enhanced articulated courses (statewide articulation and/or local
articulation); Dual credit (concurrent enrollment); and/or College Board
Advanced Placement (AP)

Texas Association of College Technical
Educators The Texas Association of College Technical Educators is a professional
organization dedicated to providing leadership for the delivery of quality
workforce education in Texas. TACTESM serves to promote the needs of post
secondary workforce education through the state, to promote collaboration
and cooperation among educational providers and to assist in providing
professional development for technical educators.
Texas Counseling Association
The Texas Counseling Association is an association of professional
counselors that provides leadership, service and advocacy and that promotes
education and ethical standards.
Texas College Counselors Association
TCCA is an association
for those in post secondary institutions whose professional identity is
counseling and whose purpose is fostering students’ development. TCCA
strives to support and enhance the practice of college counseling, to
promote ethical and responsible professional practice, to promote
communication and exchange among college counselors across service areas and
institutional settings, to encourage cooperation with other organizations
related to higher education and college student development, and to provide
leadership and advocacy for the profession of counseling in post secondary
institutions.
Texas Counselors’ Network The Texas Counselors' Network consists of regional networks that provide
professional development workshops focusing on career counseling for
counselors and guidance personnel. Each individual network provides a
centralized forum where participants interact as they share information and
best practices, while exploring topics of professional interest. In
addition, the network serves as a delivery system for state initiatives,
such as Tech Prep and legislative updates.
Texas Education Agency (TEA)
TEA is the administrative unit for primary and
secondary public education. Under the leadership of the commissioner of
education, the TEA:

manages the textbook adoption process;

oversees development of the statewide curriculum;

administers the statewide assessment program;

administers a data collection system on public school students, staff, and
finances;

rates
school districts under the statewide accountability system;

operates research and information programs;

monitors for compliance with federal guidelines; and
-
serves
as a fiscal agent for the distribution of state and federal funds.
The TEA
operational costs are supported by both state and federal funds.
Texas
Higher Education Coordinating Board The
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board was created by the Texas Legislature
in 1965 to "provide leadership and coordination for the Texas higher education
system to achieve excellence for the college education of Texas students."
Texas PK-16 Public Education The Texas PK-16
Public Education Information Resource (TPEIR) is a project designed to provide
stakeholders in public education - including but not limited to administrators,
educators, state leadership, researchers, and professional organizations - with
ready access to public primary, secondary, and higher education information for
purposes of research, planning, policy, and decision-making. TPEIR is a joint,
cross-agency project managed by the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Higher
Education Coordinating Board and the State Board for Educator Certification.
This project includes an integrated interagency data store containing "raw" data
currently collected through several different operational systems and stored in
multiple distinct databases. Data in the TPEIR data store are a combination of
aggregated and raw data.
Texas School Counselor Association The
Texas School Counselor Association, a division of the Texas Counseling
Association and also a chartered state division of the American School Counselor
Association, is the professional organization for school counselors in the State
of Texas. TSCA strives to advance the profession of school counseling in order
to ensure that quality guidance and counseling services are provided to all
students.
