The Texas Counselors' Network is a
statewide initiative funded by the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical
Education Act of 1998 through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board,
Community and Technical Colleges Division. The project has been supplemented
additionally through the financial support of participating colleges and
consortia. Weatherford College serves as the facilitator and fiscal agent.
The Texas Counselors' Network (TCN)
consists of regional networks that provide professional development
workshops focusing on career counseling for counselors and guidance
personnel. Each individual network provides a centralized forum where
participants interact as they share information and best practices, while
exploring topics of professional interest. In addition, the network serves
as a delivery system for state initiatives, such as Tech Prep and
legislative updates. Through the efforts of TCN's initiative, professional
development workshops and forums for professional interaction will continue
for counselors throughout the state of Texas. The project will assure that
the right information is being provided to Network participants and that the
ultimate beneficiaries are today’s students and tomorrow’s workforce.
